Dainik tej | Sri Ganganagar । Saturday, 06 September 2025

A woman suffering from Shrinkage of a heart valve was successfully treated with Balloon Mitral Valvotomy (BMV) at Jan Sewa Hospital, part of Dr. S.S. Tantia Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Sri Ganganagar.

The patient, Harnamo Bai, a 48-year-old resident of village 12 CDR in Hanumangarh district, was admitted on August 22 with complaints of difficulty in breathing. Initially, she was admitted to the respiratory diseases department, where pulmonologist Dr. Piyush Parikh conducted preliminary tests. Suspecting a heart-related issue, he advised an echocardiography, which confirmed mitral valve stenosis. She was shifted to the ICU and on August 29, the BMV procedure was performed under the care of cardiologist Dr. Chitresh Chahar. In this procedure, a balloon is used to open the narrowed valve, without any surgical incision. The treatment was provided free of cost under the Ayushman Arogya Yojana, and the patient's condition improved rapidly, with her breathing difficulties completely resolved.

Dr. Chahar noted that Jan Sewa Hospital is the only private hospital in the Sri Ganganagar district offering BMV, and that this modern, non-invasive treatment has been life-saving for many heart patients. He encouraged others with similar symptoms, especially those experiencing breathing issues due to heart valve problems, to take advantage of this facility under the Ayushman scheme.
