TB testing through MTB culture has been started at Dr. S.S. TANTIA MEDICAL COLLEGE, HOSPITAL AND RESEARCH CENTRE (Jana Sewa Hospital). This is the traditional method. In this, the bacteria are grown in the laboratory for six to eight weeks. Dr. Charu Nayyar, Microbiology consultant at the hospital, said the lab test is done to detect Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacteria that causes TB. In this testing, the patient's sputum sample etc. can be developed using a special method. This leads to the growth of bacteria. After this, TB infection is confirmed by examining these bacteria.
