Doctors of Dr. S.S. Tantia Medical College Hospital and Research Center (Jan Seva Hospital) have successfully treated a woman diagnosed with a rare carotid body tumor. This uncommon condition arises near the bifurcation of the carotid artery in the upper neck region. The procedure was carried out by Dr. Mahesh K. Mohta and his medical team.

According to Hospital Chief Administrative Officer Prof. Baljeet Kularia, the patient, Roshni, wife of Satpal and a resident of Dhaulipal village in Hanumangarh district had been experiencing swelling in the upper neck for the past two years. Initial evaluations in Hanumangarh failed to provide relief, prompting her visit to Jan Seva Hospital in Sri Ganganagar. Upon examination, Dr. Mahesh K. Mohta suspected a carotid body tumor. Further diagnostic imaging, including a neck angiography and MRI, confirmed the diagnosis. A surgical team comprising Dr. Mohta, Dr. Vijay, and Dr. Manoj Garg successfully removed the tumor in a meticulous three-hour operation, using a microscope to safely separate it from the carotid artery. Post-surgery, Roshni’s condition is reported to be stable. Her brother, Dararam, shared that she is now recovering well. Roshni’s husband, Satpal, works as a farm laborer in their village.
